Within the Hofdijk building we host a few annual
events. There’s the bike cleanup, parties, New Years Eve and a
hygiene check. Below you’ll find more information about all of these.

Bike cleanup

Once a year the daily management and the Wooncommissie organize a bike cleanup. The goal of this cleanup is to remove stray bikes and to maintain a clean bike storage basement.

How does the cleanup work?

Residents will receive an email with the announcement and date of the bike cleanup two weeks prior to the event. Each resident will also receive a sticker in their mailbox, which must be applied to your bike no later than three days before the cleanup. This way the Wooncommissie can see if the bike in question is still in use or is a ‘stray’.

What happens if I accidentally forgot to sticker my bike?

What if you forgot to put a sticker on your bicycle and your bicycle has been taken away? Then you can buy it back from the housing committee for €15.

What happens to bicycles that do not have a sticker and have not been collected?

Once all bicycles have been removed, the residential committee and the executive board take stock and see which bicycles still deserve or can be used for a second chance at life. These are then sold on a predetermined date to anyone who wants a new bicycle, who can then buy one for €25. We apply the rule: "First come, first served".

What happens to the remaining bicycles?

All bicycles that remain will be collected by the municipality's bicycle point Rotterdam.

Party's

A few times a year we host a party, including on New Years. These have been quite a success these past few years. We will keep trying to add new elements to them. Besides that, the penthouse is in the process of being renewed and renovated to improve the quality of life.

New Year's party

On December 31, 2023 we organized a New Year's Eve party for the entire building. This is a recurring party! We will also add photos if possible. So that you get an impression of the parties.

Hygiene check

Once a year we organize a hygiene check. That day, the daily management and Wooncommissie will visit the units to check if the shared spaces are well maintained and clean. The spaces that will be checked are the kitchen, toilet, hallway, and shower. The goal is to keep the building clean and habitable.

What happens if my unit doesn’t pass the check?

You’ll first be allowed to enter a retrial round. The daily management will make a new appointment with you and will come by to check if the items on the list that were rejected before can now be approved.

What happens if my unit is rejected during the retrial?

You’ll receive a fine of €25,- and will receive a writeup at Stadswonen.
